This collection consists of five bound volumes of financial records from the Shubert-Garrick Theatre and the Shubert-Belasco Theatre. These records show the expenses and financial reports for various productions from 1918 to 1934.

The materials in this collection reflect the administrative duties of the management of the The Society of Washington Artists. Materials include: correspondence, programs, meeting minutes (including one bound volume of minutes), the official Society Seal, and exhibition catalogues. Also included in this collection are photocopies of many of the materials. Some of the copies do not have corresponding original documents in this collection. The location of these originals is unknown.

Scope and Contents The scrapbooks consist primarily of clippings that highlight Mr. Taliaferro’s activities while he was Commissioner of the District from 1926-1930. The scrapbooks also contain programs, letters, tickets, invitations, and other memorabilia regarding Herbert Hoover’s inauguration in 1929; original signed letters from President Hoover, Taliaferro, local D.C. officials, and citizen groups; and a number of programs and typewritten remarks/speeches of Mr. Taliaferro from social, political, and...

The collection consists of yearbooks, monthly bulletins, by-laws, printed programs, histories of the Club, a few items regarding membership and fundraising, and a handwritten ledger recording the celebration in 1940 of the 50th anniversary of the Club’s founding.
