Asbury United Methodist Church Oral History Project features interviews from members of Asbury United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C. These episodes are drawn from oral histories of members of one of Washington’s historic Black churches. Asbury has been at the corner of 11th and K Streets Northwest since its founding in 1836. These church members share their personal experiences with Black history, national history and the history of the Washington, D.C., area.

This is the fourth session of a life history interview with Cosby Hunt, a career educator, native Washingtonian, and creator of Real World History. In this interview Cosby Hunt discusses returning to Washington, D.C., after finishing graduate school at the University of Georgia, his teaching career at Bell Multicultural High School (1997-2010), and his family life, including how he met his wife and how they named their two sons.

In this interview Cosby Hunt discusses his experience working at Center for Inspired Teaching and the creation of the Real World History Program (RWH) in 2014. He also talks about the structure of the program in its first year, school year 2014-2015.

The Damu Smith papers document Smiths' involvement in activism and community organizations. Among the records are biographical material, notes, photographs, audiocassette tapes, and research files. The research files cover Angola, South Africa, Korea, Iraq, the environment, and organizations such as the French Street Umoja Connection, Louisiana Cancer Alley, and the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression.
