Hugh Miller Photograph Collection

Content Description The collection consists of 443 glass plate negatives of various news related images generally taken around the mid-1920s. In the 1990s, Jerry McCoy, a Washingtingtoniana librarian and amateur photographer, made prints from the original negatives for researcher access. Eight of the negatives have no print and there is one print that has no negative. Writing on the rear of the prints is that of Washingtoniana volunteer Robert A. Mary E.A. Mitchell Collection

Scope and Contents The collection consists of 86 packages of strip negatives. Some packages contained multiple negatives bringing the total number of strip negatives to 97. The strip negatives contain between one and seven images, with 372 total images in the collection. All images were taken by Mary Mitchell and are of locations throughout D.C. including the U.S. Capitol building, Chinatown, Dupont Circle, National Mall, and Lafayette Square. Mount Zion United Methodist Church Photograph Collection

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of 44 3”x5” (19 color, 25 B&W) and four 8”x10” (all B&W) prints of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church’s Community House. Most of the images are of the restoration of the Community House and were taken prior to the work being done. There are a few images of the handicap ramp, which was added to the church in 1983. There are no negatives with this collection.
