Ms. Curry describes growing up in Shaw and Eastgate, the influence of music in her early life, coming into her own gender and sexuality in her teens, joy and pain on the streets and in the clubs, traumatic experiences in Lorton prison, organizing against discrimination against transgender women, her continued advocacy, and the importance of helping and loving each other.

Scope and Contents The collection contains photocopies of meeting minutes, minute indexes, the constitution, and by-laws for the Mount Pleasant Citizens Association. Minute indexes are keyed to the page numbers in the physical books of minutes, which cover multiple years. Some years were split between multiple books. The Mount Pleasant Riot Oral History Collection contains 10 audio interviews of people who were members of the Mount Pleasant, D.C. community during the riot of 1991. The interviews were conducted by Pat Scallen in late 2017 and early 2018. Transcripts are included for all interviews.
