This sub-series contains materials that discuss local history up to the Civil War. Documents focus primarily on the activities of Western European settlers and their descendants. Data regarding African American history is captured in facsimiles of slave schedules, manumission information, and freed person's registries. Indigenous history is also briefly mentioned.
