Abstract
This interview took place in 2021 via ZOOM video recording software. Mr. Edwards spoke from his home in the Bay Area, California, about growing up in New Orleans Second Line parade culture, becoming a professional artist for the people as part of the Black Panther Party and as a designer for various nonprofit and commercial enterprises. He discusses his work developing Experience Unlimited Band’s logo and 1977 album cover, “Free Yourself,” as well as why marginalized people are so vulnerable to drug culture, and DC’s art scene in the 1970s and 1980s as AfriCobra and other movements.
