In this interview, Arrington Dixon discussed his early experiences living in Anacostia and moving to the Lamond Riggs area. Dixon remembers segregation and discrimination growing up, and the impact of the church on his life. He also recalls taking the trolleys to McKinley High School, the death of his brother, and running for Councilmember of Ward 4.

In this interview, sisters Diane Hinton Perry and Audrey Hinton discuss hostility from white neighbors when their family bought a house on Farragut Street NW in 1953; white flight; switching schools after the Supreme Court ruled segregated schools unconstitutional; and businesses along 14th Street. They also describe their father's career as a physician, the discrimination he faced from the white medical establishment, and their own careers.

In Part 2 of this interview, Angie talks about the experience of being one of the few Black students at historically white Wilson High School in the late 1960s. She also recounts finding cannonballs and steer bones in the woods behind the house on Peabody Street. Brinnie discusses the difficulty of finding a new house and the possibility of having to send some of her children away to live with their grandparents.

in 1983, the Capital Children's Museum in Washington, D.C., conducted approximately 39 oral history interviews with adults over 60 years of age. The project focused om the childhood experiences of the interviewees. Topics also includes general life experiences and historical milestones. The project's director was Tom Lane and adolescents conducted the interviews.

Topics include educational experiences, schools attended, dates of graduation. The project director was Karen Washburn, Oral Historian for the Historical Society.
