Barbara Ehrlich discusses moving to Washington, DC and her time spent living in Southwest; her educational background and work experience, especially in Public Health; her involvement with local organizations and events such as the Southwest Neighborhood Assembly’s Southwest Arts Festival Committee, the DC Arts Commission, the Washington Waterfront Association, and the National Cherry Blossom Festival; changes and developments in the neighborhood; and the concept of aging in place.

Scope and Contents This collection covers Ophelia Daniels’ involvement in various D.C. civic associations, local D.C. politics, as well as her work as a school counselor in the D.C. public school system, primarily focusing on the 1970s-1980s with some materials spanning from the 1940s to the 1990s. Scope and Contents The collection contains photocopies of meeting minutes, minute indexes, the constitution, and by-laws for the Mount Pleasant Citizens Association. Minute indexes are keyed to the page numbers in the physical books of minutes, which cover multiple years. Some years were split between multiple books. There are indexes for the years 1921-1927, 1927-1932, 1933-1938, 1938-1948, and 1948-1957. The indexes provide the key to topics of the meeting’s discussions and actions. Some topics of note...
