Collection contains two single-page "KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS," contracts (each measuring 7.5" x 12.5"). Contract one is dated October 27, 1828 and is between Georgetown Postmaster Thomas Corcoran [1754-1830], his sons James Corcoran [1789-1834] and Thomas Corcoran, Jr. [1794-1846] who collectively "...are held and firmly bound unto the Postmaster General of the United States of America in the just and full sum of $5,000.00 [equivalent to $137,000.00 in 2022]. Contract two is dated February 8, 1837 and is between Georgetown Postmaster Harriet H. Corcoran [1803-1886, spouse of James] and [barely legible] Thomas Corcoran, Jr. [1794-1846] and brother William Wilson Corcoran [1798-1888] who collectively "...are held and firmly bound unto the United States of America, in the just and full sum of $6,000.00 [equivalent to $159,000.00 in 2022].
