Biographical / Historical
The Washington Cultus Club was a women's club established in 1902 by Mrs. Jane S. Elliot and a group of like-minded society housewives. As a European-style salon dedicated to the study of culture and current events, each meeting began with presentations by members, followed by a group discussion. Membership was exclusive: by invitation only, and limited to 25 individuals. Although the Club was active through the 1950s, its date of disbandment is unknown.
