Provenance

The collection was donated to the Library in 2001 by Dorothy Tyrrell Kuether, daughter of photographer W. Bryant Tyrrell.

Biographical Note

W. Bryant Tyrrell was born September 7, 1895, in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. Mr. Tyrrell was a photographer and lecturer on nature. His photographs appeared in the Washington Post, the Washington Evening Star, National Geographic, and the London Illustrated News. He was the founder and President of the Takoma Park Nature Society. He was also a member of the Maryland State Ornithological Society and the District of Columbia Audubon Society and was a Scoutmaster for Troop 33 in Takoma Park, Maryland. He died on June 8, 1967, at the Veterans Administration Hospital.
