Custodial History

The collection was a gift of Gus L. Wolf, via the Freer Gallery of Art in December 1991. Mr. Wolf donated these images, along with images from his trip to Asia, to the Freer in July 1989. However, the photographs of Washington, and other areas, did not fit the scope of their collection. Subsequently, Archivist Colleen Hennessey at the Freer contacted the Library and arranged for their transfer with the full permission of Mr. Wolf.

Processing Information

The Freer Gallery of Art made the prints after the receipt of the collection in 1989. Prints were grouped together according to subject and numbers were assigned to each print. Prints were then placed in protective sleeves and put into acid-free folders. The folders were housed in an archival box and placed in the Library for long-term storage. Each glass plate negative was assigned a corresponding number and placed in a four-flap paper envelope. The envelopes were housed in an archival box and placed in a negative storage cabinet for long-term storage.

Processing Information

Processed without series.
