Scope and Contents
The materials in this collection consist of newsletters, correspondence, photographs, clippings, programs, and ballots. The materials are bound in two volumes: Volume 2 covering the years 1940-1947 and Volume 3 covering the years 1947-1952. Each year is separated by title sheets and begins with a photograph of the President of the Association.

Biographical / Historical
The WMTA was founded in 1934 with an objective of “the promotion of the professional interests of the Music Teachers of Washington and its vicinity, by encouraging good fellowship in the profession, advancing the base of sound musical instruction, by clarifying ethical problems and furthering the general musical activities of the community.” It remains an organization in the District to this day.
