The David Sterman photograph collection includes 40 photographs and printed items documenting the history of transportation during the late 19th century and early 20th century, primarily in Washington, D.C. Most of the images depict horse-drawn and electric streetcars and horse-drawn carriages on the streets of Washington, D.C. Other notable images include photographs of steam engines, the 1889 DC flood, and U.S. soldiers preparing for the Spanish-American War, as well as an advertisement for an airplane race.
