From the Collection:

The collection consists of documents, art, correspondence, newspapers and magazines that Mellen kept during her career as an arts administrator and costume designer for the Opera Society of Washington, freelance critic and costume designer, and founding member of the Smithsonian Friends of Music.

This series consists of documents kept in Mellen’s personal files. Materials include published and unpublished articles, reviews, and art by Mellen, concert programs and opera libretti attended by Mellen, media clippings saved by Mellen, and notes for lectures given as a continuing education lecturer at Georgetown University and the Georgetown Presbyterian Church.
