General

Photgraphs depict DC area residents and groups involved in AIDS activism, many of whom are African American. Of particular note are photographs of The ClubHouse, a nationally-renowned dance club for ages 16 and older that was founded by the Metropolitan Capitolites and operated from 1975-1990; the EnikAlley Coffee House, a meeting and performance space for the Black LGBTQ+ community from 1980-1989; a screenshot of the first article in The Washington Post to mention AIDS; and self-portraits of project photographers.
