Scope and Contents
D.C. Oral History Collaborative (DCOHC) is a citywide initiative to train community members in oral history skills, fund new and ongoing oral history projects, connect volunteers with oral history projects, and publicize existing oral history collections. DCOHC is a project of DC Public Library, HumanitiesDC, and the Historical Society of Washington, D.C. This collection contains oral history interviews, transcripts, and indexes produced by DCOHC grantees.

Biographical / Historical
Bobby Felder, a jazz trombonist, pianist, composer, conductor, arranger, was born in Tampa, Florida. He went to Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he majored in music. Felder is from a large family with 11 brothers and sisters. He is married to his lovely wife, Lavern, and has one son, Ronald. Felder was the conductor of the Air Force Marching Band. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of Command Chief Master Sergeant, the highest enlisted position in the Air Force. Felder was a teacher all his life and a band director for 10 years at Kelly Miller Junior High School. He worked at Roosevelt High School, D.C. Teachers College, and Federal City College (now the University of the District of Columbia). He worked at UDC for 23 years before retiring to continue enjoying life. Felder is also a regular featured performer at the Westminster Presbyterian Church's 'Jazz Night in D.C.'
