Biographical / Historical
Nakia, affectionately called KiKi, is a Scorpio and a second-generation Washingtonian. She attended Walker-Jones Elementary school in Southeast, then Garnett-Patterson Junior High, and Cardozo Senior High. Her parents separated early in her life. She lived with her mom and grandfather. She did not graduate high school—instead, she dropped out and got a job. She worked at McDonald's for a while, then joined the Job Corp which took her to Pennsylvania. She got her GED and a nursing assistant certificate through Job Corp. She now cares for her brother with multiple sclerosis. She regularly attends church and has a few good friends, one who she has known since junior high school. She had her first child around the age of 30 and then a second one. She had two more when she married Juan Ramos 15 years ago. Their focus has been on raising their kids, one of which (Lavarus) was shot and killed. Since his death, Nakia holds on to the old saying, 'trading beauty for ashes'. She's waiting for her ashes to be beautified.
