Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series contains letters, postcards, emails, and other correspondence between Cleary and various people and organizations, dating from 1958 to 2011, arranged chronologically. Highlights include a set of postcards to Cleary’s parents detailing her travels and studies in Europe in 1966 and 1967 with her sister Shirley. This series contains discussions of sexual assault, eating disorders, and mental illness.

Conditions Governing Access

Restrictions for these records will be lifted on January 1, 2089. This restriction applies to boxes 38 and 39 (Series 7, University of the District of Columbia, sub-seriers 6 Restricted) and the materials in Box 89, containing a CD containing a death certificate (Series 15, audiovisual, sub-series 4, digitial materials) among other items.
