Abstract

For 30 years, Parents United was an effective champion for DC Public School students. This group was established in order to fight a catastrophic reduction in the DC Public Schools budget. The development of this remarkable advocacy began when Rod Boggs, who was executive director of the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, was also a concerned school parent. In 1981, Rod’s leadership made it possible for the Washington Lawyers’ Committee to provide essential administrative and legal support to Parents United. This collection contains interviews with some of the key parents and lawyers who made it happen.
