This is an artificially created collection of materials related to Go-Go music and the Go-Go music community. Materials include live and studio recordings of Go-Go performances; periodicals and article clippings about Go-Go performers, music, and culture; academic works regarding Go-Go; and ephemera related to Go-Go music and performances.

This series contains academic works regarding Go-Go history, culture, and community in the Washington, DC area. Highlights include DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities exhibition catalog for 2013’s “Go Go Swing: DC’s Unstoppable Beat,” the Smithsonian Folklife Festival/Howard University’s 2019 “#DontMuteDC: An Oral History,” and Chip Py’s 2022 book DC Go-Go: Ten Years Backstage. Works are housed within individual folders titled with the name of the work.

This series also contains oral history interview transcripts conducted with members of the go-go community. Highlights include transcripts of interviews conducted by Kip Lornell with Kato Hammond, Renee Dickerson, and Andre Lucas; and interviews by Jacqui Peters with Maxx Kidd and Barnett Williams. Materials are arranged chronologically based on interview date.
